Permanent Hair Reduction
Intense Pulse Light Therapy (IPL) Permanent Hair Reduction

Put an end to slow, messy and painful methods of hair removal; shaving, waxing, tweezing and hair removal creams have been replaced by hair removal in a flash.

Ellipse uses short, safe bursts of light emitted from a flash lamp to remove unwanted hair from all body sites in minutes.

How does Ellipse treatment work?

The Ellipse operator guides the light from the flash lamp to the treatment area. The unique Ellipse I²PL system carefully filters this light in two ways to ensure that only light with the correct characteristics (wavelength) is allowed  to reach your skin.

Hair contains pigment (melanin) that absorbs the light and converts it to heat. The hair transmits this heat into the hair follicle which is then destroyed and rendered unable to produce a new hair.

To ensure optimal light transmission to the hair, a thin layer of gel is applied to your skin before treatment. The operator then moves the hand held applicator over the entire treatment area, exactly one applicator width after each flash of light.

Can all hairs be treated?

As the treatment relies on absorption of light in the hair pigment (melanin), the most efficient treatment is seen with dark hair. The lighter the skin, the more pronounced the distinction between skin and hair colour, making treatment easier. However, Ellipse has pre-programmed settings for different hair and skin colours to adjust the energy output to your needs, so as long as the hair has colour, it can be treated!

How long does treatment take?

Treatment can take anywhere from 5 minutes (lip) to one  hour (full leg) depending on the size of the area.

Does it hurt?
Tolerance to pain varies from person to person, however most people describe it as “an elastic band flicking against the skin”.

Number of treatments needed

Hair growth is cyclical, as hair follicles go through resting and growing phases. Only follicles in the growth phase contain hair and are destroyed by the heat. Resting hair follicles need to enter the growth phase before they can effectively be destroyed by the ellipse treatment. That is why it is necessary to repeat the treatment at 4 -6 week intervals until all hair follicles have been treated (usually 4-8 treatments)
Preparing for laser hair removal
To ensure that as many hair follicles are targeted as possible, it is important not to pluck, tweeze, wax or use any kind of depilatory cream on the area for at least four weeks prior to treatment, or during the course of treatment.

It is also important to avoid tanning the treatment area prior to and during treatment as tanned skin will absorb the light, making treatment less effective.
Pre Treatment Advice

You must avoid bleaching, plucking, waxing or threading the hair for 6 weeks prior to the treatment.
Do not use depilatory creams 1 week prior to treatment.
Please shave the area the day before or the morning of the treatment.
Make-up, perfume or deodorant should be removed from the area to be treated prior to your appointment time.
Jewellery near the area to be treated should be removed.
Inform us if there has been any change in your medical history since your last visit.
    The area must be shaved

Post Treatment Advice

Immediately after the treatment the area may be red and/or swollen, this may feel like mild sunburn.
Do not use saunas, steam rooms or have hot baths or hot showers for 48 hours after the treatment.
Sun exposure or sun beds must be avoided for at least four weeks after the treatment as this will increase the   risk of hyper (increased) and hypo (decreased)pigmentation
A sun screen (SPF 30) should be used on all exposed parts for four weeks after the treatment.
Hair regrowth occurs at different rates on different areas of the body. New hair growth will not occur for at least 3   weeks after the treatment, however one to two weeks after the treatment, shedding of the treated hair may occur (this is NOT new hair growth).
Do not use any other hair removal treatment methods (waxing, electrolysis, plucking or threading) that will disturb the hair follicle at the treatment area for 4-6 weeks after the treatment. Shaving or trimming can be done between treatments.
Photo Rejuvenation
Anti-Ageing Treatments for a Younger Look

Most people want to keep a young and fresh look. Our skin ages due to sun exposure and decreased production of collagen. The Ellipse Laser/IPL treatments , for sun damaged skin (Skin Rejuvenation or Photorejuvenation) help you keep a younger and fresher look. It’s the best non-invasive, anti-aging alternative, suitable for young and aged skins.

Clinically proven, safe and effective

The Ellipse I2PL treatment offers clinically proven treatment (technique is called “selective photothermolysis”) for sun-damaged skin, covering both vascular and pigmented aspects. The visible light produced by the Ellipse I2PL system is carefully controlled to produce the correct pulse length and right amount of energy to destroy the target area without damaging surrounding tissue, thus removing pigmentation, diffused redness and leaves the skin feeling smoother and more even in texture.

The Ellipse I2PL photo rejuvenation treatment will additionally treat larger telangiectasias (individually visible vessels). Photo rejuvenation is a quick and simple treatment that does not interfere with your normal daily routine, repairing sun-damage found on the face, neck, chest and hands.

Treatment regime:

A full-face treatment should take approximately 20 minutes and the skin will look rejuvenated after 1-3 treatments, depending on the severity of treatment required.
Thread Vein Removal
Acne Treatment
How does it work?

A thread vein is a small blood vessel near the surface of your skin. The ellipse operator guides the visible light from the flash lamp to the blood vessels needing treatment.
Blood contains haemoglobin that absorbs the light and converts it into heat. This heat destroys the protein in the wall of the thread vein. As a result the veins will gradually, and safely disappear after treatment.

Which thread veins can be treated?

Thread veins all over the face can be treated. As treatment relies on absorption of light by the haemoglobin in the blood, the most effective results are seen with light skin. The lighter the skin the more pronounced the contrast between the vessel and the skin, making treatment easier. However, ellipse has pre-programmed settings for different skin colours that deliver the correct energy output for your complexion.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe the sensation as similar to that of a rubber band snapping against the skin, followed by a warm sensation lasting several minutes.

How long does thread vein treatment take?
The treatment time depends on the size of the area that needs treating and the number of vessels to be treated. A single session typically lasts 10-20 minutes.

Do I need to take special precautions before and after treatment?

It is important to avoid tanning (sun/solarium/fake tan) before and during the treatment period. Otherwise your tanned skin will absorb more light, making treatment less effective.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed depends on the severity of the thread vein. 1-4 treatments is average, and these treatments should be timed 1 month apart.

Acne Treatment

People used to believe that acne was caused by lack of hygiene and eating too much junk food, and these two acts could certainly exacerbate things. However we now know that the leading cause of acne is hormonal imbalance, which is why it most often affects teenagers and menopausal women.

An increase in the Androgen hormone stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce more oil. This increased production of oil leads to blocked pores. Bacteria which occurs naturally on the skin then feeds on and breaks down the oil, which in turn produces spots on the surface of the skin.

What can Ellipse acne treatment do for me?

Our light technology uses specifically selected wavelengths and pulse duration to penetrate the skin where it is absorbed by Haemoglobin (a substance within the blood) which in turn heats the area creating a reaction within the sebaceous glands (the glands that produce oil). This in turn slows down the overall rate of oil production that leads to acne, thus dramatically reducing the chance of spots and minimizing the overall appearance of your pores

The best results are achieved on inflammatory acne, best known as the sore, red, raised pimples. The procedure is non-invasive since the applicator only lightly touches the skins surface, making it relatively painless. Tolerance to pain is very individual but it has been likened to the warm feeling you get on your face after a day in the sun.
